Splashy!

Dude, I totally forgot to mention a few things in my last post. So here I am again, being weird...
1. I changed the author of this blog so now it's Megan instead of Angela, just so the people who don't know my nickname is Angela won't be confused... but on the DA I still have my Angela account. Yup.

2. I added more music to the playlist, not that it matters much... oh, btw, on the blog playlist if you click "pop-out player" (which you can kind of see sort of) then you can scroll down. Just thought I'd put that out there...

3. I went swimming in our pool today for the very first time! We got it set up on Sunday with the help of Shira and Adam (thanks, guys) and today Nathan and I actually swam in it. =D
It was pretty cold, but still fun. Yay! It's SUMMER!!!

Welp I think that's all, so bye bye now!

Hey hey hey hey. I'm doing pretty good. Like the story I posted yesterday? I'm not sure if it's any good, you tell me! I just wrote it with the feature song "Leave out all the rest" stuck in my head... which is why it was feature. =P
I submitted it to Teen Ink also, but they take a while to accept it, so who knows if they will or not... I read this really interesting story on Teen Ink the other day, also. It's written in a really different style, but I liked it. Here's a link:

http://www.teenink.com/Fiction/article/86180/Improvising/

So, maybe read it and see what you think! I'm gonna try and submit some of my pictures to that site, too. Maybe the new poem I wrote... even though it was pretty stupid!! Hehe.

Me, Nathan, Kevin, and my mom went cherry picking earlier today! Yeah. I love cherry picking, it's so much fun. And there were a lot of berries on the trees, too! Note for future: never go cherry picking when you're hungry. Like I did today! I ate SOO many, but managed to pick a lot too. I LOOOOVE fruit!

Well, I think i'll stop being weird now (meaning that I'll just stop talking for a while). Ta ta!

A dream come true

>> Monday, June 29, 2009

"And don't resent me, and when you're feeling empty, keep me in your memory, leave out all the rest, leave out all the rest..." The melody of my favorite song played over and over through my headphones as I made my way through another day at work. Sorting books, putting them on shelves, the life of a library volunteer wasn't the most exciting thing I could have chosen. "But, it'll look good on work applications," I reminded myself for the 50th time, "...I think. Why couldn't I have chosen a job where there's some interaction with other workers??"

Bam! At that exact moment, the door to my seclusion flew wide open. Dust scattered everywhere, a few stray papers fluttered across the floor. "Ow!" was all I could say, "Bright.. light!"

"Sorry," a male voice called out from the doorway. I could see his silhouette well, but my eyes were still blinded. "Don't you ever turn on the light in here? Or maybe dust a little?" he asked.

"I just work here," I persisted, annoyed at, well, whoever this intruder was. "Will you close that door? And besides, the light was turned on. You must have flicked the switch or something, when you flung open that door. Going for dramatic entrance? Well, I have to give it to you, it worked." He chuckled, deep and throaty, and shut the door behind him. For a few seconds, we were enveloped in darkness. For a minute or so, I was worried. Why isn't he turning on the light? Who IS he, and what is he doing?? I thought, conjuring up all the worst possible scenarios. But then I heard a short *click* and, thank you electricity, the room was flooded with light. "Much better." I muttered.

Trying to get back to my job, I grabbed another stack of cataloged books, and proceeded to set them on the right carts. Footsteps. Closer. Then a pair of sneakers appeared before my eyes, white sneakers, about a size 10, I estimated. Before the library, I had worked in a shoe store. The feet stayed still for a while. I picked up some more books. Then on of the toes started tapping. Rather irritated, I brought my head up jerkily to look at the face of whoever had entered this back room. I set my eyes to "power glare" and bore down upon him. But I wasn't prepared for what I saw. Black hair, blue eyes, a marvelous face and square chin. He was tall, too, over 6 foot, I guessed. The glare faltered. My mouth hung open a bit, but I clamped it shut. He started grinning, looking devilish and yet angelic at the same time. Who IS he?? I wondered yet again. But this time I voiced my thoughts.

"Who are you?" I asked bluntly, for lack of better words to say.

"I'm your dream come true," was all he came back with. His voice was deep, caressing, and I fell in love with it immediately. How well would he sing? I wondered. That thought I didn't say out loud, though.

"A dream come true. Right. Look, could you please explain a bit more? And I should probably get back to work... don't want to get, I dunno, fired. Can a volunteer get fired? I guess so. Yeah, they can. That's what happened to Kerry, I'm pretty sure..." Oops. I was rambling. Always acting stupid around handsome guys, that's me!

"I'm a volunteer," he said, picking up a few books and surprisingly putting them onto the correct carts, "just like you. Don't stand there- get to work! Mr. Carter hired me, said you could use a hand, and some company. Now that I meet you, though, I'm not so sure about that. You seem to be doing a pretty good job, just you and your iPod. What is that, a Classic?"

"Nano." I was surprised. Mr. Carter had never seemed to notice me, or care about me, and I certainly never asked for an assistant. Wished, yes, but never asked. "What's your name?" I blurted out.

"Matt. Yours? What kind of music do you have on there, anything good?"
I had so many questions, about him, about who he was and where he lived, and just everything, but all I did was answer.

"I'm Kacey. You can think up a nickname if you want, but whatever you do, don't pick Kace. And yes, I think I have good music, but that depends on what defines "good". My good might be far different from your good."

"Cool. Not Kace? Why not? How about.. Kay Kay, does that work for you? Or just Kay? What artists do you have on there? What generation Nano is it? You're still just standing there..." The rest of the day went in quite a similar way. He peppered me with questions, we discussed many topics. He didn't seem to mind my dry humor, my sarcastic tone, like Kerry had when she tried working with me. I actually wondered some days if she got fired on purpose because she didn't enjoy my company. Matt was the exact opposite. We started by discussing music, questions about when I got my iPod, how much I enjoyed it, why Linkin Park was my favorite band, why 'Leave Out All The Rest' was my favorite song, and so on and so on. We talked movies, books, work, just life! I even asked a few questions in edgewise. Matt didn't reveal many details about himself, though; I guess I didn't mind. I was enthralled, captivated, and not just by those blue eyes and wavy hair. But I did have to admit to myself, he sure was fine looking. But also I was interested in his view on things. Politics, government, the media. Life in general. He had a kind of zest about him, a passion for everyday things. By the time 5:00 rolled around, I didn't want to leave the dusty back room I used to think of as a prison- as long as Matt didn't leave either. But all too soon, he needed to leave. "Give me your phone number?" He asked. I readily consented. "Do you text?" Another question of his.

"Of course," I replied, "I mean, who doesn't?"

Matt smiled at me again, showing pearly white teeth, lined up in a row. He must have had braces as a child.

Finally, I couldn't help myself, I had to ask. "Will I see you tomorrow? Here, at work, I mean."

He walked out the door, leaving me with one parting thought: "Maybe."

Later that evening, at maybe 5:30, I found myself standing outside Mr. Carter's office, knocking on the door. "Come in!" He shouted.

"Hi, Carter," I said, going inside and shutting the glass door behind me. "I'd like a bit of information... that new guy you hired, Matt, do you know his last name? And phone number?"

My boss looked confused, muddled, and somewhat like a dog as he shook his head and said to my shock and dismay, "I don't know what you're talking about, Kacey. I haven't hired anyone new since Mrs. Henderson left. But we're looking for another volunteer to take her place at the desk..." The rest o his sentence never hit my ears. Then who really was Matt? I questioned myself over and over, extremely worried by then. I jumped as my phone went *beep beep beep*, the signal that I got a new text. Reading it, I almost fainted.

Subject: Dream come true

How you doing, Kacey? I've never met a girl like you. In a good way, of course. Here's a picture of us to remember me by. I snapped it when you weren't looking, remember? I won't be coming back to work anytime soon. Miss you already.

Yours, Matt.

The whole rest of my drive home, I was breathless. Who was he? What did he want? I was so confused. All I could think was... he really had been a dream come true.

Any good movies lately?

>> Saturday, June 27, 2009

Ahh, I'm so exhausted from staying up late at Bella's party. But I'd never seen Bride and Prejudice before, so I tried very hard to stay awake. And I did for most of it. Probably not a good idea... I keep needing naps. =P
Annoying. But oh well, it was SO much fun!

Anyone seen any good movies lately? I watched Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom for the first time today. It was pretty gross... but good, too! I also watched Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl (or whatever the first one is called) for the, like, 10th time. But I never get tired of that movie! It rocks.

I don't really have much to post... oh, I need to email Bells a quote. Guess I'll do that now.

TTYL!

A book

>> Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Hello. I started reading a new book yesterday, called The Warrior Heir. I saw it at Smith Family Bookstore and it looked interesting, so I had my sister check it out at the library for me. I've read a couple chapters, and it's pretty good! It has a cool plot. There's also a sequel and several other books that come after it, like, The Wizard Heir and The Dragon Heir. Anyone heard of them? I like it. It's on my bookshelf on the blog, so you can read a summary if you want. Can't wait to find out what happens next! What have you all been reading?

Ch-ch-ch-changes!

>> Tuesday, June 16, 2009

I've been fixing up the blog a bit. Changing some things. ...But I think you can tell.
One- I made it public again. Private, I dunno, I just didn't like it as much, I guess. And I want my little brother to be able to read it, and he doesn't have an account.
Two- changed the name and description, just for fun.
Three- changed the background again. I'll be doing that often, just to spice things up a bit.
Four- Added a bookshelf thingy just so everyone can know what I'm currently reading. Again, just for fun!

Yep yep. Well, I had stuff to say, but I don't remember any of it, so I'm gonna go now.

Byes!

Yeah, baby.

SCHOOL'S OUT!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe it- wait, yes I can! Last day of band Thursday. Testing yesterday. Hoo boy. I'm so happy. I am going to be doing some school during the summer, but not much. Just finishing up my science and doing math. But I'm skipping up to the Algebra 1/2 (pre-Algebra) math book and my mom will just teach me the stuff I don't know how to do. So I'm glad I'm doing that.

The last day of band... I had several different emotions about that.
1. Excitement; it meant that summer's almost here!
2. Relief; finally finished, no more practicing.
But also,
3. Sadness; it was my very last day EVER.

Because I'm not doing Logos anymore. There's so many people that I won't see again, and I'm going to miss seeing them every week! I already do miss some of them! My other friends who aren't going back next year felt the same way. It's going to be so different...

oh right, which brings me to some news. I might be doing band next year, at Creswell High School! We haven't even looked into it yet, really, but it is an option that we're considering. That'd be fun... I think.

I went to a graduation today. Lauren Bennion. Their family has been friends with mine for a while. Her sister Hannah (who's about my age, a little older) wrote Lauren a song for her graduation, which she preformed for us (guitar and singing). It was SOOO good. I was amazed. Loved it. Graduations also bring out both happy and sad feelings... and lots of memories.

Well that's all for now. Bye!

Wowsa

>> Tuesday, June 9, 2009

Wow, I barely ever post on here, do I? Hmm. Sorry about that! I have been pretty busy lately.

Yay! School's almost over! My official last day of band is this Thursday. WOOHOO! I'll be done with Logos for FOREVER. It'll be such a crazy feeling. I've been going there for 4 whole years! Wowsa. And then testing on Friday... and that's it! Done! Finito! Except for the frightening fact that I'll have to do math during the summer or otherwise I'll be 2 years behind. Blech. Not fun at all. But I'll have plenty of other summer activities, so I guess it's not TOO bad.

My final concert is tonight, and then after that there's an award ceremony. I hate the final concert, because I have to go there up in front of everyone and have Mrs. N talk about me and give me an award... I went to the middle school concert yesterday, and seeing all the kids up there getting their awards reminded me of how much I hate it! Going up there in front of so many people. Grr. Scary... oh well, I'm going second in line, so I can go and sit down pretty soon. At least I'm not last. Or first! Second's fine with me!! And I don't think I'll get any special award or something. I wasn't very prominent in band this year. Hallelujah! =P

On Saturday my family (Shannon, Brian, Kevin, me, Nathan, and my parents) went on a picnic at Shotgun park to celebrate my mom's birthday which was on the 1st of June. It was pretty fun- not too cold, not too wet. On Friday I went over to the Hamovitz's house and spent the night. I was SOO exhausted for some strange reason. We did watch movies until 2 a.m. (we watched Benny and Joon, Ella Enchanted, and Camp Rock), but that's not the strange part. See, I was really tired all Friday afternoon, but then, when we were watching the movies into the middle of the night, I wasn't tired!! And then the next morning, I was tired again. I was tired all day Saturday, and even MORE tired on Sunday. It wasn't very pleasant. And then on Sunday I had a really bad headache, so I skipped youth group again... hehe.
Headaches are no fun.

Um, I can't really think of anything else to say... oh, I went to Shannon's house on Wednesday and joined her and our cousin Lisa and my friend Esther for their weekly movie night. It was the first time Esther and I were invited, and it was a lot of fun. We watched Penelope. It was funny! The preview for it looks really weird, but the movie was actually pretty good. I liked it. We had a good time.

Tomorrow I might be going to Smith Family Bookstore with Kevin, Andrew, Katie, and (I dunno how to spell her name) Miri (sp?). Except it looks like Andrew might not be able to go, so I'm not sure if we'll go or not. After the bookstore, we're planning to go to some smoothie shop.
(For those of you who don't know, Andrew is a friend of ours, Katie is a friend of Kevin's, and Miri is Katie's 14 year old sister. I haven't met Katie or Miri yet, but I think I'll meet them tonight)
If we don't go, then I'll go to Shannon's again for movie night.

Well, gotta go, chores await me...

bye!

COME!! YOU MUST COME!!

>> Wednesday, June 3, 2009

Yep, here I am, giving YOU and only you (and whoever else I happen to invite....) an exclusive invitation (okay, maybe just a normal invitation...) to my concert next week! It is on Tuesday the 9th at 6:30 and there'll be a reception afterward.
Here's a link to the google maps to Immanuel Baptist Church, where it's held:

http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&ie=UTF-8&q=immanuel+baptist+church,+springfield,+or&fb=1&split=1&gl=us&cid=18048756696643724854&li=lmd

So, everyone please come I really want you to even if I sound horrible! And maybe come 10 or 15 minutes early, that way you can get a good seat and say hi to me!

Okay, now for other stuff besides trying to promote my final concert...

life has been going well. My days are normal but fun, and my weeks are getting pretty busy with end-of-school stuff. My last day of school is next Thursday (not tomorrow), and homeschool testing is the day after that. Not looking forward to the test.... ugh. Math. Yuck. Gonna fail it.

Um, I dunno what else has been going on, so I'm gonna post my favorite picture in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD (well, sorta). Here it is!

Ahh! It makes me so happy! It's me and my fave cousins. =)
Us all in the 13-16 age group. Us cousins who hang out together all the time. Yeah, I love it. =D
Oh, the peeps from left to right is: Me, Mark, Jer, Will, and Karen.
Aren't we cute? Why'd that have to change??

Tonight I'm going to my sister's house for a movie night. Her (Shannon) and our cousin Lisa have a movie night every Wednesday and they recently invited me and my friend Esther to join them. Not sure what we're watching, maybe A Walk To Remember? I don't think they've decided. But it'll be fun.

Gotta go practice the flute a bit more.

Bye!
